Custom CNC Machining Services
Need a custom base plate with recessed pockets, stepped edges, threaded mounting features and an irregular outline? This product profile is suitable for a drawing-based CNC machining review when your project requires a non-standard metal plate rather than an off-the-shelf component.
The available reference shows the component geometry and visible surface appearance only. Material grade, dimensions, tolerances, thread standards, surface treatment and inspection requirements must be confirmed from your drawing, CAD model or approved sample before quotation.

A base plate with a recessed central area, stepped perimeter and several hole features can serve many different assemblies. The exact product function depends on the surrounding equipment, load requirements, mating components and installation environment. For that reason, this page uses a neutral product description and focuses on the visible geometry and the information required for a responsible quotation.
The pictured part has a broad machined body, an irregular outside contour, raised edge sections, openings near the perimeter and a large recessed pocket. Several holes appear to have internal threads, while the exact thread type and usable depth are not visible. These features are commonly reviewed during CNC milling, drilling and tapping projects, but the final operation sequence must be decided from the engineering drawing.
This product page is intended for OEM engineers, product designers, equipment builders, sourcing managers and procurement teams seeking custom CNC machining services. It is not a dimensional drawing and should not be used to release production without engineering confirmation.
The large recessed pocket may create clearance for a mating component, reduce local weight or define an internal assembly space, but its actual purpose cannot be confirmed from the image alone. The pocket floor, surrounding walls, internal corner radii and transition areas should be dimensioned on the drawing. These details affect cutter access, machining time, tool selection and the final inspection plan.
The stepped perimeter and raised sections make the component more complex than a flat rectangular plate. Workholding must provide stable support without damaging visible surfaces or blocking critical features. If features are located on several faces, the supplier should review the datum scheme, machining orientations and setup sequence before the quotation is finalized.
The hole pattern should be treated as drawing-defined information. Each hole may require a different callout, such as a clearance hole, tapped hole, counterbore, countersink or locating hole. The RFQ should identify nominal size, thread standard, pitch, depth, position tolerance and any inspection gauge requirement. Visual appearance alone is not enough to select a hole-making process.
The dark exterior and brighter recessed area indicate different visible surface appearances, but they do not identify a specific coating, anodizing process, plating method or material. Separate functional faces, cosmetic faces, protected zones and masking requirements on the drawing so the quotation reflects the actual finish expectation.
| Specification | Visible or current information | Confirmation required before production |
|---|---|---|
| Part type | Custom CNC milled base plate or mounting plate profile | Confirm the official product name and assembly function |
| Geometry | Recessed pocket, stepped perimeter, raised areas, openings and irregular outline | Provide dimensions, datums, radii, wall thickness and feature relationships |
| Hole features | Multiple top and side holes; some appear threaded | Confirm type, size, standard, pitch, depth and position tolerance |
| Material | Metal appearance only; no grade is confirmed | Specify material family, grade, temper or material condition |
| Process | CNC milling is a plausible primary process | Confirm drilling, tapping, reaming, secondary machining and finishing needs |
| Dimensions | Not available from the reference image | Supply a dimensioned 2D drawing with units |
| Tolerances | Not measurable from the image | Mark general and critical tolerances, flatness and position requirements |
| Surface appearance | Dark exterior with brighter machined recess visible | Confirm treatment, roughness, masking and cosmetic acceptance criteria |
| Inspection | No inspection result supplied | Define measurement method, report scope and certificate needs |
| Quantity and delivery | Not supplied | Confirm prototype, batch quantity and target delivery date |
Deep or narrow pockets can limit cutter access and increase the risk of tool deflection, corner-radius mismatch or difficult chip evacuation. The drawing should identify the required floor, wall and corner conditions. A review before machining helps the buyer understand where geometry, tool diameter and finish requirements may influence the quotation.
A hole that looks threaded in a photograph still needs a complete technical callout. Thread standard, nominal size, pitch, usable depth, entry condition and location should be stated. If a fastener must seat against a particular face, include the relevant counterbore, countersink or clearance requirement as well.
The outside profile includes steps, cutouts and raised sections rather than a simple rectangle. This can affect datum selection, fixture support and the number of machining orientations. The supplier should identify how critical faces remain accessible and how the part is protected during clamping.
The reference has visibly different surface zones. Use separate drawing notes for mating faces, cosmetic faces, protected areas and post-processing. This prevents a general appearance requirement from being incorrectly applied to every surface or from changing critical dimensions after finishing.
This workflow is a recommended project structure. It does not claim any specific supplier equipment, certification, inspection result, production capacity or delivery performance.
A product photograph is useful for discussing overall geometry, but it cannot replace engineering data. To reduce quotation ambiguity, send the following information whenever it is available:
The quotation should clearly state the machining scope, material assumption, finishing route, inspection basis, open engineering questions and delivery basis. This creates a more useful comparison between suppliers than a price request based only on a photograph.
The visible geometry is compatible with several project categories, including custom equipment mounting structures, fixture-related components, adapter plates, interface plates, enclosure support parts and other industrial assemblies. These are possible use directions rather than confirmed applications or documented customer projects.
Before selecting a material or finish, evaluate the actual operating environment. Load, temperature, corrosion exposure, contact with mating parts, fastener requirements, electrical considerations and cleaning conditions can all influence the final specification. The supplier should not infer these requirements from color or shape.
Material selection should follow the part environment and assembly requirements rather than the photographed color. The buyer should identify whether the plate needs low weight, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, electrical conductivity, stiffness or compatibility with a particular fastener. The selected grade may also influence pocket stability, burr formation, distortion risk and the final surface appearance.
Surface treatment should be specified after the functional faces and critical dimensions are known. A treatment can change appearance, friction, corrosion behavior and some finished dimensions. If only selected faces require treatment, mark the masking boundaries clearly. Cosmetic acceptance should describe allowable marks, color variation and handling requirements without relying on a sample photograph alone.
Inspection planning should be connected to the datum structure. Identify the dimensions that control assembly, the hole positions that locate mating parts, the threads that receive fasteners and the surfaces that must remain flat or parallel. A supplier can then propose a measurement method and report scope that match the actual risk of the component.
The reference shows a dark metal-looking component, but it does not verify a material grade. Aluminum, steel, stainless steel and other materials should not be assumed from color. State the required material and grade in the drawing or RFQ.
The pocket, stepped faces, irregular outline and visible hole features are consistent with a CNC milling review. The final route may also include drilling, tapping, reaming or secondary finishing, depending on the approved design.
Threaded features can be specified for a custom machining project subject to drawing review and supplier capability. Provide the thread standard, nominal size, pitch, effective depth, location and inspection requirement.
No tolerance should be promised from a photograph. Required tolerances must be identified on the drawing. Feasibility depends on material stability, part size, feature access, setup strategy and the agreed inspection method.
The reference shows a black exterior, but the treatment is not identified. Confirm whether the requirement is anodizing, coating, plating, paint, black oxide or another finish. Also define masking and dimensional-impact requirements.
Prototype and small-batch availability is supplier-dependent and was not verified from company documentation. Include the initial quantity and expected future volume so the supplier can confirm an appropriate production route.
A 2D PDF drawing communicates dimensions, tolerances, threads and inspection notes. A 3D CAD model communicates the complete geometry. Include material, quantity, finish and delivery information whenever available.
No lead time can be stated without the drawing, material, quantity, machining route, finishing requirements and inspection scope. Request a project-specific estimate after the complete RFQ package has been reviewed.
This custom base plate profile includes recessed pocket features, stepped geometry, mounting-hole details and an irregular outer contour. Send the available drawing, CAD model, material requirement, quantity, finish requirement and inspection notes so the project scope can be reviewed before quotation.
A responsible quotation should identify assumptions and open engineering questions instead of treating a product photograph as a complete specification.
