What is a split gear?
A split-torque gearbox is a configuration in which the drive pinion (1) meshes with two intermediate idler gears (2, 3) while acting on another gear (4). From now on, this assembly will be referred to as four-gear meshing. In this case, the torque is distributed from gear (1) to gears (2) and (3) meshing with gear (4).
