There are two different methods to achieve the desired plastic surface finish. Textures can be machined directly into the mold. This is an easy way to ensure that each piece has the same finish. It can also reduce costs by eliminating the need for additional post-processing. Another way to achieve the desired plastic surface finish is to use post-treatment applications. This may include sanding, sandblasting or etching.

In-mold texturing is used to achieve a uniform plastic surface finish. Custom finishes can be machined into the mold, either custom textures or textures only in certain places. In some cases, post-processing by grinding, etching, or sandblasting can be used on specific areas of the part. Multiple textures and finishes are possible with any single part. In-mold texturing and post-processing are often used together to achieve the desired plastic surface finish.
