In the process of precision part machining, the roughness of the part surface is formed due to the residual area caused by the geometric shape and cutting motion of the cutting tool, the groove marked by the chip accretion on the tool edge, the vibration ripple caused by the vibration between the workpiece and the tool, and the extrusion and friction marks caused by the wear of the tool flank. The technological factors affecting surface roughness mainly include workpiece material, cutting parameters, tool geometric parameters and cutting fluid.
Generally, elastic-plastic materials with larger toughness have larger surface roughness values after processing, while elastic-plastic materials with smaller toughness are easy to obtain smaller surface roughness values after processing.
